Our Ministry
Since our founding in 1983, we have been committed to supporting the shepherds of the rural church. We strive to encourage and strengthen believers in their relationship with Christ by offering facilities and programs to accommodate conferences, camps, and retreats. We exist to provide a fertile environment for the growth of each individual or congregation, to help strengthen that body, and enable it to bear more fruit. We focus our efforts in three areas: strengthening churches, encouraging ministers, and equipping people.
Strengthening ChurchesThe rural church faces unique struggles. Denominations find themselves hours away from support networks; independent churches have no integrated support. With smaller budgets, churches rely on volunteers to fill positions that might be staffed in larger areas. The rural church must use limited resources and training to meet needs, answer questions, and deal with heartache and crisis within the body. We strengthen the church through relationships, conferences, retreats, and camps. We provide programming and training that helps the church meet the needs within its body, often bringing in speakers that one church alone could not. |
Encouraging MinistriesThe rural pastor is isolated and often lonely. He may work an extra job to make ends meet. He lacks the time and funds to travel to urban areas in search of resources and training. He does the best that he can with what he is given, no matter how little it is. We provide a place of renewal, even healing, for the local pastor. Our Prairie House is an escape from the world where a pastor and his wife can retreat, relax, and unwind. Our staff often lends a listening ear and spends time in prayer with the ministers of the rural plains. |
Equipping PeopleThe members of the rural congregations are used to doing without — making do. Yet, when it comes to their spiritual walk, they know that they need more. They want the training and resources they need to live effectively for Christ. We offer retreats and conferences geared towards providing those resources and training. From the Christian Workers Conference to marriage retreats to simulcasts, each event purposefully works to equip people to serve their congregation. |
